Commandant’s CV

Brigadier General Dimitrios Xogiannis was born in Veria in 1972. He joined the Hellenic Army Academy in 1990 and graduated in 1994 with the rank of Second Lieutenant in the Artillery Branch.

He has attended all the schools and training programs of his branch, including the Hellenic Artillery School, the Hellenic Army Command and Staff College (HACSC), the Hellenic Supreme Joint War College (HSJWC), and the Hellenic National Defence College (HNDC). He has also completed targeting courses at the NATO School Oberammergau (NSO), including the NATO Joint Targeting Staff Course (NJTS), the NATO Joint Intermediate Target Development Course (NJITD), and the NATO Collateral Damage Estimation Course (CDE). He has been awarded all the prescribed medals, decorations, and commendations. He holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Security Studies from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences.

During his career, he has served in various command and staff positions. He has been the Director of the Secretary General’s Military Office in the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence (MOD), Deputy Director of the Plans & Exercises Directorate, and Deputy Director of the Staff Transfer Directorate at the Hellenic Army General Staff (HAGS). Additionally, he has served as Director of the Tactics Department at the Hellenic Army War College, Military Assistant to the Commander of NRDC-GR, and Chief of the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Branch at B’ Corps.

He has extensive experience in military planning, operations, and strategy. He specializes in targeting and coordination within NATO frameworks and has led various staff and educational structures.

He speaks English and French fluently.

He is married.
