The Hellenic Army War College (HAWC) organized, under the auspices of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) and in collaboration with the Cyprus Security and Defence Academy (CSDA), a training activity titled: “Modern Leadership in the Context of the Law of Armed Conflicts and Open Source Intelligence.” The activity took place from 13 to 17 of October 2025 at the college’s training facilities, in the context of which subjects were presented, focusing on the international law of armed conflicts, the influence of open-source intelligence on the decision-making process, and the characteristics and skills of the modern leader. The closing ceremony of the training program me was attended by the General Consul of the Republic of Cyprus in Thessaloniki, Mr. Konstantinos Polykarpou and the representative of CSDA, Captain Andreas Patsalides. A total of 34 participants undertook the course, including military and law enforcement officers, scholars and diplomats from 8 EU countries, namely: Belgium, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Greece, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands and Poland. Lectures were delivered by subject matter experts from European organizations, Greek and Cypriot universities and specialist military personnel with knowledge on these matters.
